There are many benefits to properly trimming and pruning trees in your yard.  Proper pruning improves the health of the trees by removing dead or dying branches, protects branch structure, removes hazards, and even can improve the size and quantity of crop on fruit trees.

There are four different classifications of tree pruning.  Fine pruning improves a tree's aesthetics.  Standard pruning is slightly heavier cutting in order to enhance the branch structure.  Hazard pruning is involved when there is a safety concern, and usually consists of removing branches more than two inches in diameter.  Crown reduction pruning involves the reduction of the tops and sides of trees as needed as a result of storm damage, significant die-back or interference with utility lines.
